You look at me, it’s like you hit me with lightning
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
Today my friends and I began our day by discussing the first chapter of the book Forgotton God, by Francis Chan.
One of the points he makes that really hit me hard was the fact that most of the time, it is impossible to tell the difference between one who is filled with the Holy Spirit and one who isn’t. This is a big problem! I have observed that this is a big reason why most nonbelievers don’t want to be a part of the church and question our integrity. Most of the time we act just like everyone else, sometimes, even worse! Chan writes “My brothers and sisters who have recieved the Holy Spirit, we often lack love, joy, peace, patience, kindness…etc., even while many of our unbelieving friends exibit those traits”. (pg 33) As Christians, we need to strive to be different. Matthew 5:14-16 says:
"You are the light of the world…let the light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven"
So as you go about your day, I would encourage you to let your light shine!
No one can serve two masters. Either you hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money
You make all things work together for my good.
